Art Psychotherapist

HCPC: AS019545

Hello. I’m the Art Psychotherapist at Now, Next & Then, where I work with children and young people through creative, relational and trauma-informed therapeutic practice. I bring a calm, thoughtful and compassionate presence to my work, offering a safe space in which young people can explore their emotions, experiences and relationships through image-making and creative expression. I believe in the power of art psychotherapy to communicate what can sometimes feel too difficult to articulate verbally.

I am passionate about supporting children and young people to develop greater emotional understanding, resilience and self-expression. My practice is grounded in attachment theory, emotional regulation and non-verbal communication, and I am particularly interested in how creative processes can help young people make sense of their inner world. I was initially drawn to Now, Next & Then because of its child-centred, holistic and neuro-affirming approach, and its commitment to working collaboratively with families and professionals to support each young person in the context of their wider life.

"Art psychotherapy gave me a safe space to explore complex feelings and thoughts. Indigo was compassionate and supportive throughout, and I found every session extremely beneficial."

Alongside training as an Art Psychotherapist, I have worked for over 18 years as an Art and Photography teacher in  mainstream comprehensive education, which I continue to do part-time. This extensive experience in school has given me a deep understanding of child and adolescent development, safeguarding, and the challenges many young people face within school environments. As part of my MA Art Psychotherapy training, I completed a clinical placement within an NHS Mother and Baby Unit, where I developed my skills in working sensitively with complex emotional and psychological needs. Perinatal work and parental mental health remain keen professional interests of mine.

Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors, making art, photography, swimming and spending time with my family. I am continually inspired by creativity in all its forms and value the sense of connection, curiosity and reflection that artistic practice can bring. I bring this same curiosity and warmth into my therapeutic work, supporting young people to discover their own creative voice and to feel seen, heard and understood.

“Indigo is thoughtful, informed, curious, reflective and shows great flexibility and adaptability.”
