Neuro-affirming Counselling explained
Our neuro-affirming counselling provides a confidential, therapeutic space to talk, reflect and process experiences at your own pace.
Our counselling approach is person-centred, meaning sessions are led by your young person / you, and what feels most important to bring. We also draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, ACT and solution-focused techniques, where helpful.
How do we know if our young person or I need this?
Counselling may be helpful if your young person or you are experiencing:
Anxiety or overwhelm
Difficulties with emotional regulation
Low self-esteem or confidence
Challenges related to being neurodivergent
A need for space to talk and be heard without judgment
We have huge experience supporting autistic young people, young adults, and their families.
What should our young person or I expect?
A calm, non-judgemental and confidential space
Sessions led at your pace
No pressure to “fix” anything — just space to explore and understand
Option to integrate practical tools where helpful
Important information
Counselling sessions are offered separately from Autism/ADHD Advocacy & Support. If you are accessing both, this will be clearly discussed and agreed in advance to ensure clarity around roles, boundaries and confidentiality, in line with guidance from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
